SPECIAL NOTE REGARDING VALLA 2010
Those of you who are regular supporters of this event would be well aware of the effort put in by the Drag-Ens to ensure that everyone has an enjoyable and safe time while attending the premier run in Australia.
Unfortunately, incidents do occur on occasions which require positive action by the committee. During the Valla 2009 run, we had the unpleasant task of asking two entrants to leave the event for behaviour that not only put the safety of others at risk, but was a clear disregard for the rules set down by the Park Management and our Club.
These two rodders have been banned from attending future events at Valla.
Another issue that has been of some concern for some years is the number of unregistered cars attending the event with travel permits. The road system within the park is deemed a "public road", therefore the Police are quite within their rights to apply normal road rules to all vehicles.
We have made enquiries with the relevant road traffic authorities in each state, and travel permits issued are for a specific route only and do not cover the vehicle being driven for a week during the run. Apart from the fines imposed for driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, the Park's Public Liability insurance is also at risk.
Therefore, in future, any unregistered vehicle will not be accepted at the run even if a road permit has been issued. This will also apply to the use of Trade Plates.
We have a very good relationship with the local Police and they are supportive of the event, however, they have concerns about the number of vehicles cruising the Park where the driver is consuming alcohol whilst at the wheel. This practice will need to cease and we will be cautioning drivers we see who persist with this behaviour. Without gates it is deemed to be a public road and normal road rules apply. Local Police will enforce this.
Our aim is to ensure that everyone has a great time at Valla and we pride ourselves with the fact that we have managed to keep the run basically incident free and the rodders and their families can enjoy the event.
Lets not spoil a good thing.
