NARRANDERA ROD RUN 2009
The club supported the 25th Anniversary Narrandera Rod Run held over the Easter weekend. Eight members made the trip and the host club, Earlies Rod and Custom Club, did a fantastic job in organising the activities and making sure everyone was fed and had plenty to keep them entertained.
For the early arrivals on Thursday, everyone was treated to spaghetti and pancakes at the Narrandera Golf Club. Trade stands were set up and the registration desk was busy handing out the entrant bags and selling run merchandise.
After everyone had been fed, a trivia competition tested the knowledge of the entrants. For the second year in a row, the Drag-Ens team made a last minute surge and won the competition.
The registration desk was open all day on Friday and the day's activities included fun things for the kids and a 19th hole golf competition for those who fancy themselves as golfers.
The golf club was the venue for the Friday night and after a hearty dinner, the rock band "No Big Deal" belted out rock-n-roll music. A courtesy bus took entrants to and from the venue.
On Saturday morning, breakfast was supplied followed by a short run to the Narrandera Fisheries Complex, after the entrants drove back into town for a show and shine in the Narrandera Park oval.
There were over 200 cars on display and the local markets gave the ladies something to look at other than cars.
Saturday night is always a big night. The street was closed off for cruising and a live band was set up to keep everyone entertained.
On Sunday, a cruise to Temora was arranged. The annual Temora Aviation Museum Flying Day was on, and everyone was treated to some fantastic displays of vintage aircraft.
Sunday night was wind-down night, and entrants assembled at the Lake Talbot pool and enjoyed roast beef rolls and live rock music.
We would like to congratulate the Earlies club for organising a great weekend.
